Reliable signal processing – transmitter for Coriolis mass flow meters

The UMC5 transmitter has been specifically developed for Coriolis mass flow meters and ensures precise and stable processing of mass flow, density, and temperature values. Thanks to its compact and robust design, the transmitter is ideally suited for demanding industrial applications. For safety-critical areas, the UMC5 is also available in an explosion-proof version – ideal for applications in the chemical industry, oil & gas, and hydrogen technologies.

The integrated operating unit allows the transmitter to be flexibly adapted to individual process requirements. The basic factory configuration, including transmitter calibration, is carried out by Heinrichs Messtechnik. Additional parameters can be adjusted by the user at any time and modified whenever required.

In addition, the UMC5 features an integrated Data Storage Block (DSB). This stores all essential sensor data such as sensor constant, instrument version, serial number, and other important device parameters. This enables fast replacement and ensures safe and simple commissioning.

Reliable integration through established communication standards

With 4…20 mA, HART®, and Modbus RTU, the UMC5 can be reliably integrated into existing process control and automation systems. Integrated diagnostic functions and a user-friendly operating interface support fast commissioning and simplify condition-based maintenance. Whether used in demanding high-pressure applications or standard process environments, the UMC5 stands for reliable signal processing, dependable communication, and seamless system integration.

Special features

External operation without opening the housing

The UMC5 can be operated conveniently from the outside without opening the housing. This significantly improves safety during commissioning and maintenance and is a major advantage especially in hazardous areas. Parameters and settings can be adjusted quickly and safely without affecting explosion protection.

In addition, the display can be rotated in 90° increments. This ensures optimum readability at all times, regardless of the mounting position – whether installed in compact or remote versions and under varying field installation conditions.

Color display for instant status indication

The high-resolution color display provides excellent readability, even from a greater distance. Operating conditions can be recognized immediately at a glance. During normal operation the display remains clear and easy to read, while in case of a fault the background automatically changes to red. This enables fast response and reliable condition monitoring.

Flexible output configuration with universal slot system

Thanks to its modular design with two freely configurable slots, the UMC5 can be adapted precisely to the requirements of each application. Analog and digital outputs as well as communication interfaces can be combined as needed. This provides maximum flexibility for system design, retrofitting, and seamless plant integration.

Integrated SD card for data logging and diagnostics

The UMC5 features an integrated SD card for storing operating data, events, and diagnostic logs. Process data can be reliably documented and accessed whenever required for analysis, maintenance, or service. This simplifies troubleshooting and supports efficient condition-based maintenance.

Fast signal processing with flexible filter settings

The UMC5 processes measurement signals quickly and reliably and can be precisely adapted to different process requirements. Several selectable filter levels allow individual adjustment of measurement dynamics and signal stability.

Depending on the application, the transmitter can be configured either for fast response times or for enhanced signal smoothing. Shorter filter settings enable rapid detection of dynamic process changes, while higher filter values reduce signal fluctuations and provide a more stable measurement output.

This allows the UMC5 to be optimally adapted to a wide range of applications – from fast-response dosing processes to stable continuous measurement tasks.

  • 8 ms → approx. 0.11 s
  • 28 ms → approx. 0.21 s

The result: fast signal processing, stable measurement values, and optimum adaptation to individual process dynamics.
